蔡元培以其深厚的中西学术背景以及在对中国现实问题的强烈焦虑和关怀中为我们构筑了中国美育现代性的第一个思想体系。感性启蒙与道德人格的建立、个体人格的培育与民族精神的弘扬以及从"以美育代宗教"的主张中透露出的审美现代性与启蒙现代性的张力使得蔡元培美育现代性思想不仅凝炼了中国现代美育理论一切优秀的文化品格、学术旨趣和实践精神,而且比较全面地映射出中国美育现代性在创生发展过程中的各种逻辑矛盾和思想症结。蔡元培美育思想成为中国美育现代性理论不可或缺的文化底本。

With his profound Chinese-western academic background and strong care for China’s reality,Cai Yuanpei constructed the first Chinese thought system of modernity of aesthetic education.He advanced perceptual enlightenment,the foundation of moral personality,shaping of individual personality and expanding of national spirit;he held that aesthetic education would replace religion.His thought system of modernity of aesthetic education not only embodies all the excellent cultural characters,academic ideas and practice spirit of modern Chinese theories of aesthetic education but also comprehensively reflects various logic inconsistency and thought symptoms in the development of Chinese modernity of aesthetic education.And his thought of aesthetic education has become the indispensable thought model of Chinese theory of modernity of aesthetic education.
